Before Intravenous (IV) Sedation
Before Intravenous (IV) Sedation
Do not eat for four hours before your appointment. You may have small sips of water if needed.
A responsible adult must come with you, take you home by car or taxi, and stay with you for four hours after the procedure.
Do not drive, operate machinery, or make important decisions for 12 hours after sedation.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing, with sleeves that can roll above the elbow, and low-heeled shoes.
Please avoid smoking for at least 12 hours before surgery. If possible, stopping two weeks prior gives the same benefits as a non-smoker.
On the day of surgery, do not wear lipstick, heavy makeup, or nail polish, as these can interfere with monitoring equipment.
If you are unwell (e.g. cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset), please contact the office. In most cases, sedation can still proceed.
Tell us about all medications you are taking, especially sleeping tablets, tranquillisers, or steroids, as these may interact with sedation.
Do not use recreational drugs, party pills, or alcohol the day before your appointment.
